Hope all of you checking this new blog post out are having a great week. I spent this week on an adventure. A few times a year I have prioritized getting away to recharge the personal battery. This week I spent four days in the mountains hunting bears.

The weekly dog tip of the week is directly linked to your personal health. It is always important to remember that you must be in a good spot if you are trying to train your dog in anything. It is very similar to raising kids. The more in control of your emotions you are the more you can teach. Dogs, like our kids, are experts in reading our body language and through that, our mood. If we want to maximize the potential of our dogs then it's an area we must be concentrated on at all times of training. That being said we must be honest with ourselves on how we are doing. I often find that it motivates me more to take care of myself knowing that I could potentially hurt or hinder progress in the things I care about the most. I wish I could say that I take care of myself because it is important to me but, to be honest, I do these things more because it affects other people that I love as well as the animals in my care. So, my pro tip of the week, is to honestly self-evaluate yourself before every training session and make sure that you are in a good spot. If not, wait or even take the day off. If you are in a season of life that makes that difficult ask yourself what you need to be better for those that count on you. If your life is so overwhelming that you know that you can’t prioritize your dog think about calling us to help.

That being said, my adventure report is exactly that, an adventure. Yes, we saw bears- yes, I had a shot at a bear that I ethically didn't feel comfortable taking. And yes, I tipped the RZR and gave myself a concussion that cut the trip short.
